    • If your animal has any vaccination records, please submit them via our online scheduler, email, or bring a printed copy with you.
  • Drop-off times:
    • SURGICAL appointment drop-off : 8:00am-9:00am
    • Vaccines, rechecks, etc. : arrive at the specific time you are scheduled.
  • Pick-up times may vary:
    • When you drop off your animal, you will be given an estimated time for pick-up.
    • When your animal is out of surgery, a staff member will give you a specific time they can safely go home.
  • We recommend pre-surgical bloodwork:
    • For all spays and neuters, your animal will undergo injectable and gas anesthetics. Any procedure that requires sedation, can be a risk.
    • Pre-surgical bloodwork is recommended, but not required for most pets. Pre-surgical bloodwork is REQUIRED if animal is:
      • 7 years of age or older
      • Has certain health issues that increase risk as determined by a veterinarian
    • Bloodwork can be done through our clinic and sent out to IDEXX laboratory
      • Please note, blood draws must be done ONE WEEK prior to scheduled surgical appointment date. This allows the results to be reviewed by our veterinarian before the surgery.
      • Based on bloodwork results, our veterinarian has the right to refer your pet to a full service clinic or request repeated bloodwork.
    • Bloodwork can also be performed by another veterinary clinic, but must be within the last 30 days before surgery. These results must be sent and reviewed by our veterinarian prior to appointment.

  • Carriers are REQUIRED for all cats:
    • Each cat must be in a sturdy carrier (plastic, wire, soft-sided).
    • Please limit one cat per carrier, if feasible.
    • Feral cats can be left in live traps if applicable.
  • Animals must be fasted prior to surgery:
    • Pets having surgery must not be fed after 8 pm the night before or the morning of surgery.
    • Pets are allowed water during this time.
    • If your pet does accidentally eat, let the APE staff know so we may adjust accordingly.
    • Luring feral cats into traps/carriers with food is acceptable, but try to limit the bait to small amounts to avoid additional surgical risk.
  • All animals must be in good health:
    • All animals will receive an exam and be assessed for any apparent health risks prior to surgery.
    • Any pet that is not in apparent good health will not be accepted as a surgical patient.
  • Payment is Required at pick-up.
    • We do NOT accept checks or CareCredit.
    • We accept cash, credit/debit cards, or PayPal.
    • If you have concerns regarding payment, please speak with APE staff before scheduling an appointment.
